Freedom Plaza

Washington, D.C.

On May 2, 1998, the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill and National Institute of Mental Health and other pro-psychiatry and pro-forced "treatment" groups sponsored a demonstration called "Walk the Walk for Lives Touched by Mental Illness."  We who have been victims of such forced "treamtment," (which we call psychiatric assault) and our supporters organized a counter-demonstration, pictured below, led by David Oaks, coordinator of the Support Coalition.

The sign says: "Walk the Walk for Lives Ruined by Psychiatry"

"PSYCHIATRY HURTS PEOPLE"
In the background on the right, the yellow sign says "Prozac" with a prohibited symbol over it.
